Alasdair mac Mhaigstir Alasdair
by Camille Dressler

Alasdair mac Mhaigstir Alasdair needs little introduction. Not only was he a great Gaelic poet, but we're 99% certain that he was the author of the Journal & Memoires of Prince Charles's Expedition into Scotland 1745-6 By a Highland Officer in his Army, shown elsewhere on this website.

We now have available on this site an illustrated summary of Alasdair’s life, which was the subject of a conference in Glenfinnan in October 2007 and of an exhibition at the West Highland Museum, funded by 2007 Highland Year of Culture and AWA lottery. The exhibition’s panels, which were created for the Highland Year of Culture now form a permanent display in the Museum’s Jacobite Room.
