Journal & Memoires of Prince Charles's
Expedition into Scotland 1745-6
By a Highland Officer in his Army
*1 Upon the 26th of Jully 1745 His R. H. arrived in
the harbour of Lochnanûgh in Arisaig (a corner of
Clanronald's Country on the western coast of Scot
land) on board a French Ship of 18 guns com
manded by Capt Walsh. He was accompanied
only by the D. of Athole Sr Thomas Sheridan
Sr John Mcdonald Sr Francis Strictland
Collonel O'Sulivan Mr Kelly Mr Buchanan
Mr Angus Mcdonald Brother to Kinlochmoy-
dart, together with Mr Michael and three
other servants. This was all the foreign force in
an Enterprise ye most hazardous & resolute that the his
tory of any person or Country can aford------
*2 Jully 19th an express was dispatched for young
Clanronald and nixt day being the 20th Clanrd.
